Woodnotes is a Finnish design company founded in 1987 by textile designer Ritva Puotila and her son Mikko Puotila and is still owned by its founders.
Woodnotes is the first company in the world using paper yarn in a contemporary way in functional textiles.
The material paper yarn itself is spun from 100 % kraft paper. It is a genuinely natural material made from an ecologically produced renewable natural resource – wood. The strength and durability of paper yarn derives directly from wood fiber. The compactness of the wood fibres means that paper does not gather dust or dirt, an important feature for those allergic to dust. Kraft paper can be stored, recycled or burned to generate energy.
Woodnotes products are recognised around the globe for their elegant design and superior quality. The company meanwhile exports to more than 40 countries.
Furthermore Woodnotes products have won numerous international awards, latest winner was the wooden chair SIRO+.
