Like in Cologne on the IMM my vists of fairs are too short to give an overall comment! When I was in Paris I visited three halls 5, 7 and 8 where I found new designs from young talents, some new emerging international brands and inspirations on modern living and trends.
This year I was attracted by some trendy office furniture from TABISSO, a company that offers modular solutions for office space with alphabetic characters and eco designed office chairs. www.tabisso.com
Molo is another brand with perfect solutions for freestanding mobile structures made of tactile honeycomb and tissu. Very easy for reshaping environments. http://molodesign.com
KARIMOKU is a traditional Japanese manufacturer of wooden furniture that launched the brand KARIMOKU NEW STANDARD in 2009 with young promising designer talents. This year they showed a collection designed by Scholten & Baijings, TAF, Teruhiro Yanagihara and other international talents. www.karimoku-newstandard.jp
Universo POSITIVO is the new brand of Ethnicraft, the Belgian company specialized in wooden furniture. The new brand combines oak and colorful metals and was presenting the collection in Cologne as well with great success. www.ethnicraft.com
When I am at M&O I always stop at ASTIER DE VILLATTE, my favorite address in Paris for candles, ceramic, paper art and accessories. They have a big stand on the M&O, always crowded and always a nice discovery. They presented wonderful new books, new candles and a lot of nice ceramics. It is a very special mix of tradition and new manufacture products, playful and also surprising. www.astierdevillatte.com
Candles again, but in a completely different mood: For the first time a small company that produces tiles offers a precious selection of exceptional scented candles, tumbler in Porcelaine from Limoges with decoration of old provencal manor houses. The same company also handmade plant soap with beautiful packaging made in Provence. www.roseetmarius.com
I am really looking forward to seeing the next Maison & Objet in September!
