The Christmas spirit is in the air! Magic and wonderment fills the air as stores and streets slowly fill with the lights, sparkle and smell of the Christmas season. As every year les grands magasins in Paris have succeeded again in creating legendary and magical Christmas windows. Certainly the twelve most beautiful and magical store windows can be found on boulevard Haussmann in the 9th district at Galeries Lafayette. As every year the world-famous Galeries Lafayette will engage and enchant shoppers with a special window theme. This year’s Christmas spectacle is “Once upon a time at Christmas… Before the clock strikes twelve” a fairytale romance where time and imagination run wild – a reminder of the joyful anticipation of being a child at Christmastime.
Beat the clock and get ready for Noël
Visitors can follow the travels of Lilly the doll and Martin the teddy bear, dressed in Little Marc Jacobs outfits of the Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. From display to display Lilly and Martin set out on a journey lined with surprising discoveries and unexpected encounters. They need to reach Mr and Mrs Wolf’s cabin in the woods before the clock strikes twelve to enjoy the Christmas meal and open the presents under the tree.
Turn the lights on
The trip continues inside with a spectacular discovery: the first animated Christmas tree in department store history, illuminated with the help of Swatch. Every hour the twenty-metre high Christmas tree planted under the glass dome will transform into a wonderful music theatre and compliments the fairytale window theme “Il était une fois Noël …avant les douze coups de minuit.”
Let yourself be enchanted by the charm of the window displays or, to formulate in the words of Philippe Houzé, Directeur Général of the Galeries Lafayette Group: “Prepare to be amazed at Galeries Lafayette!”
